GRAHAM

DON

Graham has been a Town Councillor for 20 years. Town Mayor twice and Deputy Mayor once. He has a wealth of experience and has brought great wisdom and a down to earth approach to council discussions. He was deeply involved in two Organisation Days and the Golden Jubilee and Millennium Celebrations.Recently he has been particularly concerned in recreational matters. Born in Chippy, Married with four children. He worked for many years at Parker Knoll. Aged only 46 people may ask why is he leaving Probably because he has done a long and incredibly active stint. He now wants to spend more time with his family and to pursue his many other interests. He is very active in the Chipping Norton Town Cricket Club and the Wychwood Scouts. We will surely see him around. Peta has been a Town Councillor for 6 years. Mayoress from 2004 - 2006. Resident in Chipping Norton for 28 years. Peta has been a fount of expert knowledge on Health and safety matters. She was Secretary of the Greystones Tenants Association. Peta was always in the thick of it whenever anything practical needed to be done. She threw herself into the organisation of events and was the first to get into costume - whenever required. Her husband Richard has sorted out the sound systems for numerous town events and dramatic productions. Peta was usually alongside in attendance- helping! She was a superb Mayoress whose unstinting support was much appreciated by Don Davidson.
Don has been a Town Councillor for 16 years. Don served as Town Mayor twice from May 1996 to May 1998 and then again from 2004 to 2006. Don runs a very tight meeting! Resident in Chipping Norton since 1977. Don was a teacher at Chipping Norton School for 25 years - from 1974 to 1999 and currently works for the County Council. He has always been immersed in youth matters, For a start he knows virtually everyone in the town under 40 personally because he taught them. He is or has been involved in the
Community Education Committee and the Youth Club Management Committee as well as being a Governor of Chipping Norton Nursery School and a Trustee of the ACE Centre. Don has always been deeply committed to the youth of the town.
Yasin was elected to the Town Council in 2003 at the age of 21. He has brought a youthful and dynamic approach to council affairs. For the last year he has been Chairman of the Recreation Committee spearheading a Lottery Grant application to refurbish the playground on the Common. Probably most associated by young people with a series of discos which he has initiated at the Town Hall. Yasin is leaving the town (hopefully only for the time being) to seek His fame and fortune in London. He has just achieved his post graduate degree in Politics and hopes to pursue a political career.

Statement from the Green Party: "West Oxfordshire Greens do not wish to oppose the sitting councillor, Eve Coles. Eve has been an excellent councillor, and we particularly admire her work on the Environment Scrutiny Committee and in raising the issue of air pollution. Eve is also a long-standing member of CND and the Peace Movement. I would urge all Green supporters to give their vote to Eve Coles so that Chipping Norton continues to have a strong, sensible voice on the District Council"

TOWN COUNCIL
ELECTION CANDIDATES
The whole Town Council is up for re-election. 16 seats.
Councillors are elected for four years. There are 22 candidates.
Every elector has 16 votes but
you can use as many or as few of those as you like!
The Town Council has few direct powers but a united, determined council with a strong mayor can still wield great influence with local authorities and public agencies.
A squabbling council is a waste of space,
