HILARY IS ON THE CASE...........

Our new County Councillor Hilary Biles has wasted no time in getting stuck in to some of the town's big issues. She is already probably the most expert person around on the Hospital and Healthcare Provision in Chippy. Its clear that she will soon be equally well-briefed on traffic problems.  Oliver  Herrin has been campaigning for years to try and get some pedestrian crossings  installed near the Q8 garage so that older folk and kids from Holy Trinity can get across Albion Street and London Road safely. He acted as Hilary's guide this weekend - pointing out the seriousness of the situation at a junction which is getting busier and busier with every new development. Together they watched as some of the older folk took their life in their hands to get across the London Road. Hilary checked out how a member of the younger generation felt about it all -a young girl who has to frequently find her way across several busy roads on her way from Rock Hill to visit her friend in Over Norton Road. "Its all a bit muddly" she said. Hilary agreed it was a mess and promised to get into a dialogue with the new Transport Supremo - once he is appointed this week. She'll keep us posted. At a meeting of the Development Control committee meeting on 9th May considering the District Council's response to the County Traffic Plan Hilary got agreement  "That the (District) Councils concerns on HGVs using the A44 and the A361 and, in particular, the air pollution problems this causes in Chipping Norton be forwarded to the County Council."

LATEST NEWS: After her meeting with Oliver, Hilary has already taken this issue to the Highways Development group at the County who have been "sympathetic". More important they are coming to Albion Street next Tuesday with Hilary to see the situation for themselves. Things seem to be moving.
