BRILLIANT NIGHT AT THE
DAVE HAIGH AWARDS

Left
Sam Cleaver coach of the Charlbury Town Youth Football Club gave a very stylish and amusing account of his work with the Girls Football Team. More players needed urgently!  Right Don Davidson who chaired the evening interviews "The Boat Builders" - a group of lads who built their own 24ft boat  and rowed it in a race down the Thames last year.

Rach Hicks and girls from the
Over Norton Youth Club went through their dance routine and told us just how successful the club has become. Second from the right in the Chorus Line is Claire Brown who later won the runner-up Dave Haigh Award. Right Don Davidson introduces this year's Award winner Sam Cleaver. The Mayor is in attendance. Sam not only runs the successful and highly motivated Girls Football Team in Charlbury but Don told us about the caring mentoring work which Sam has also been deeply involved in. A worthy winner alright.

Everybody had a great evening. The food was superb - prepared by Shayne from the Blue Boar - accomplished chef and a previous winner of the Dave Haigh Award. One correspondent wrote in the Forum: "I received an invitation in the post to The Dave Haigh Award evening in the Town Hall last night, so I thought I'd better go along. And I must say what a truly fantastic night I had!! As I arrived I was greeted by a free glass of wine and a big smile, and that was just the young people. A lovely spread of food, even a pair of chocolate fountains  There were performances from young people. It was brilliant so thanks for a great night to "the Dave Haigh fund" and keep up the great work".
