THE GREAT THREE-LEGGED RACE

There were 15 teams competing. Starting at the Red Lion, and taking in the Crown & Cushion, OTBT, Blue Boar, Stones, The Chequers, The Bell, The Football Club, The Firestation, the Kings Arms and The Fox, before returning to the Red Lion. The winning team was the Two Amigos, Steve Holland and Chris Snell (the men in bras and garlands) in a time of 50 minutes and 50 seconds. Second was The Masked Brothers, Ryan & Luke Mason (the two scary faced youngsters). Third was Petered Out, Peter Allum and Peter Bareham (the Morris Dancers). Last place was taken by the Two Apes, Tasha Brooke and Roy Hickling in a time of 3hrs 36 mins.

The race was in aid of Katherine House & Dr Lawrence Home Nursing & The Firemans Benevolent Fund. The organisers were Bec Ridgway, landlady of the Red Lion and Penny Greenwood. Sponsorship money is still being collected, but should all be in by next week. There was also a raffle on the day and burgers & hotdogs by John Kench all adding to the money raised.
