HILSRY AND THE FLOWER BEDS

After months of pressure Councillor Hilary Biles has succeeded in getting the County Council to sort out the flower beds next to the Town Hall. Work began this morning (16th May). In a double coup she has also persuaded the District Council to get the beds at the top of News Street seen to. That work begins next week. Its clear that Hilary is now back to full fighting form after some health problems. She was in town on Tuesday morning to meet with Dave and Jo of G & J Barfield Ltd who were doing the work. Weeding is the first job. Then a covering of bark mulch. Then some new planting. Although the hose pipe ban means that the timing of any planting will need some careful planning. Its great that at last we have reached a basic understanding with both the local councils. Our thanks to them. And thanks to Hilary for her persistence.
