EVE AS USUAL GETS SOME ACTION.........

District Cllr Eve Coles (pictured left) is a dogged fighter about big causes like the Leisure Centre, Youth issues and Air Pollution. But she also has time and energy for more down to earth concerns like the state of the town's loos. The West Oxfordshire District Council must get fed up with her constant nagging. Recently Eve got the bit between her teeth about the lack of lighting along the path between the New Street Car Park and Withers Way. A lot of her constituents had complained that in the winter they had to make long detours to avoid using the path in the dark because it was too scary. Bureaucratic stalling has gone on for some time about a number of arcane aspects concerned with the deeds of the land but with the onset of dark evenings Eve turned up the pressure and has finally got agreement that 3 low level lights will be installed. Great news. Now what shall we get Eve working on next

At their last meeting the WODC ENVIRONMENT OVERVIEW & SCRUTINY COMMITTEE discussed a report on the control of Pigeons in West Oxfordshire. The report weighs up at some length the pros and cons of trapping, shooting or drugging our feathered friends but eventually concludes that the only effective way is to get the public to stop feeding them. To this end it was recommended that the matter should be referred to The Street Scene Best Value Service Review Group (Pardon). Just remember all this when your Council Tax demand arrives! Why don't they clean up our Town Loos instead of harassing the pigeons
