PIRATES AHOY AT THE LIDO!

Good attendance and some stiff competition in the Best Dressed Pirate Contest.  All was going very smoothly and the treasure chest had just been opened, when an 'oribble band of hairy scary pirates burst onto the scene and stole the chest.  The junior pirates set off in hot pursuit, chasing the thieves across the grass and bombarding them with several hundred water bombs.  Finally the pirates were overcome, the treasure was restored (and consumed) and the invaders were forced to walk the plank. Pirate rations, including ship's biscuits and treasure chest cakes, were served at the cafe - not a weevil in sight our health and safety officer was pleased to report. Later in the evening, people settled in their deckchairs and rugs and watched a full screen version of Pirates of the Caribbean, sustained by a barbecue and hot drinks from the cafe.

And guess what All this was free of charge.  For the afternoon, people just paid their standard admission to the pool, in the evening when there was no swimming, the film show was completely free.  The Lido are aiming to serve the community and to make the pool and our special events as accessible to everyone as possible.
Can't say fairer than that!
