CHIPPY'S TOP GARDENERS

Charlie Keen won First Prize in the William Fowler Alloment Competition. He is presented with the Winner's Cup by the Mayor on Monday night at the Town Council Meeting, In some introductory remarks to the prizegiving Councillor Coles (who is Chairman of the Allotment Association) said that gardening was booming in the town. There was a waiting lists for plots and applicants were now being offered half-plots as a way of trying to satisfy demand.  Everybody present was struck by the rugged "outdoor" complexions of all the prizewinners - not to mention their obvious good health . Who needs a Green Gym Just get yourself an allotment!

Other prizewinners receiving their awards on Monday night were: Fred Goodey, Andrew Griffin and Arthur Legge. Congratulations everyone.
