THE NEW FARMERS MARKET -
BIT SHORT ON FARMERS
BUT THE WEATHER WAS SMASHING

A dozen or so stalls but the majority were craft - lots of pots, baskets, wood, jam, jars and cakes.  Should be billed as a Craft Fair really. Could have avoided a lot of misunderstanding. Jo Graves was manning a pottery stall and I asked her which farm she came from. I got one of her looks. It was nice to see the Lamb Man back and the Free Range Eggs and the lady with the super apples. Jim Crease was buying his bacon for the week and the Mayor was investing in a jar of pasta sauce. And it was good PR when the meat seller directed a lady down the road to Trev Beadles. "I think you'll find he stocks that. He has a terrific range of meat". Couldn't find wild boar sausages but found fresh home-made pasta instead with a Neapolitan Sauce to die for.  A group from Yorkshire were telling the man from the Banbury Guardian that they thought the Morris Dancers were terrific. The police were there in force - not to control the crowds but presumably to enjoy the sunshine along with the rest of us. Whistlers was doing a roaring trade down Middle Row, and the parking and traffic chaos didn't materialise. So if this is as big as it gets perhaps Brian wont need his banner next time. The lower Market Square was much less than half full with stalls with their attendant cars and there was even space to park outside Stones while I was there. It was all nice and comfy. Nothing pretentious. Very Chippy. What was all the fuss about
